I do not trust the labels

I do not trust the labels from China. We just have seen that you can buy any stickers for any purpose in online shops. We need a better process to verify the labels from there. We do have too many of this in the catalog and no one really knows what it is.

I would say, if it is fruit

I would say, if it is fruit sticker, then it is made for fruits. There are not so many collectors, that it would be profitable for these companies to make different stickers just for collectors, I guess. But truth is, that these stickers can be used on different fruits, there are many generic stickers that can be used on banana, apple, kiwi or whatever. And also stickers, that are “wrongly” used, for example apple stickers found on bananas. These stickers, sold in China, are mainly generic, or fakes of different world known companies, and it depends of buyer ( fruit retailers, shops, in my opinion) where they will use them. But I dont think that these chinese stickers are made to make money with selling them to collectors.

I also believe that this

I also believe that this stickers just exist and are used in the context of supermarkets or fruits. But here at the catalog we are the collectors of banana labels and for me it is too quick, that someone says: "This could be also used on bananas"

I do not like to collect any fruit sticker where people somewhere in the world that I don't know, say it could be a banana label. I want to work towards a prove. For example a picuture from the label in the supermarked taken by a person we trust.

It is too quick at the moment and - because some collectors buy labels in the Philippines - I'm not convinced we have the right 'quality gate' for accepting a label to be a real banana label.

I agree, the Philippines are

I agree, the Philippines are different story. If seller knows he can sell it to collector, manipulation is possible. About chinese stickers, It is true that is hard to judge which stickers are put on bananas. In my opinion, the ones with images of bananas and similar, are real. For all others would be great if we get photo, but it is not always possible.

I have been to many Chinese

I have been to many Chinese wholesale produce markets where there are dealers that sell cheap printed labels for fruit, but the fact is that many of these do end up on bananas, or labels that show other fruit are found on bananas. There are also many fake "branded" banana labels which do end up on bananas, especially Chinese domestic bananas which more often than not do not have labels. In my collection I have Del Monte and Turbana labels that are clearly counterfeit, but they were on bananas being sold commercially. So they count in my collection. In fact I value them highly. One of the funniest things ever was in Shanghai at a large corner produce dealer. The clerk saw me removing banana labels from several different brands and walks over to me and says something, and then motions me to follow him. He goes to a cabinet, opens it, and there are dozens of sheets of different banana and other fruit labels. So I take full sheets of each that had bananas on them. And he takes a sheet of fake Del Monte and starts putting them on the banana hands where I had just liberated the labels. Really funny.
